What is Giardia? Giardia is a parasite that infects the digestive system and is a common cause of diarrheal disease in the United States. It spreads through water, food, surfaces, objects, and person-to-person contact.^[4] It is common in children.^[5] One of the risk factors for Giardia is having contact with animals.^[6] It spreads via the fecal-oral route, usually by consuming something contaminated, and can spread between people as well as between people and pets.^[7]
No Giardia Diagnosis in Humans: Their infant had been taken to a doctor and was being tested.^[8] During the February 17 episode, Ethan confirmed that neither their infant, Hila, nor himself had been diagnosed with Giardia.^[9]

Several comments in the live chat mentioned CPS or child abuse/endangerment.^[14] There has been inconsistency in the criticism, as the Kleins are sometimes accused of having a filthy house, while other times accused of leaving their household to be managed by maids and nannies.^[15] The main role of CPS is to investigate claims and decide whether a child should be removed.^[16] Knowingly making a false report to CPS can lead to criminal charges if done intentionally with reckless disregard for the truth.^[17]
