1. Charcoal Mask

This screenshot is from the video "The Black Challenge" where Ethan and Hila tried several black-colored beauty products. The products consisted of black hair dye, charcoal toothpaste powder and more notably charcoal face masks. They also drank black colored water.
The video likely came to be after they accumulated various black-colored products from previous videos.
As soon as they apply the charcoal mask, Ethan jokingly acknowledges the unfortunate resemblence to "1950s Looney Tunes" caricatures of black people^[2] but explicitly denies the notion that they are doing blackface.^[3]

2. Makeup

This screenshot is from the aforementioned video where Ethan and Hila follow a tutorial and apply makeup on each other in the popular style of "couples makeup" videos. The comedic twist is that the tutorial promises Kim Kardashian's look.
Contrary to claims from snarkers, Ethan didn't just straight up paint Hila's face brown. Instead, they applied foundation on their face and contour lines on their cheeks before blending.^[4]
Ethan, being completely inexperienced with doing makeup, applied the contour lines too thick.^[5] As a result, Hila's makeup ended up being way darker than Ethan's when they blended it with the foundation.

Ethan decides to replicate their look by getting frosted tips, wearing earings, wearing a tank top and of course getting overly spray tanned himself.^[7]
Ethan has on numerous occasions stated that this was one of the most humiliating videos they made. In his Hot Ones interview, he explained that he always hated the videos where he acted in public, calling it "soul crushing".^[8]
This directly contradicts the claim that Ethan deliberately put himself in that situation in order to do blackface. The notion that doing blackface is so important to him to the point of purposely humiliating himself in public is simply absurd.
On the same interview, Ethan acknowledged that the spray tan looked questionable and that it could be interpreted as racist but denied it being blackface.^[9]

Rubbing Dead Sea mud all over your body is a long-standing tradition, believed to be good for the skin and have health benefits.^[11]
After Keemstar unearthed the post in 2020, Ethan explained why he rubbed the mud on himself while also acknowledging that the caption was in poor taste.^[12]
While the caption was in poor taste, it was made after the fact. This alongside the mud rubbing tradition disproves the claim that Ethan deliberately wore blackface when he rubbed the mud on his face.

Conclusion

Out-of-context screenshots and clips have circulated appearing to show Ethan and Hila in blackface.

Hila praised Yoav Gallant, therefore endorging his previous dehumanizing statements.

Truth

During a discussion about Donald Trump’s stance on Israel, Hila noted that Netanyahu fired Yoav Gallant after they had disagreements about whether the IDF should have a presence in Gaza.
Hila compared that situation to Trump's habit of dismissing officials who disagree with him. She described Gallant as a "really good guy", and Ethan added that they'd read he's regarded as a "moderating voice" in the conflict, which supports her view.^[4]

All available evidence shows the skulls were ordered by someone impersonating Ethan, not by Ethan himself.

After those two posts, several users attempted to post about Ramadan on the H3 subreddit in order to test the validity of the claims. Several of those posts were caught by Reddit's filters and automatically removed, further adding to the confusion.^[3]

The initial /r/H3Snark post that started the entire narrative that H3 moderators were deleting posts about Ramadan was based around doctored screenshot. A user on the H3 subreddit exposed the hoax by revealing that the snarker had edited the HTML text of an unrelated post that was removed by H3 moderators earlier that week.^[4]
The fake post was made from a throwaway account under the guise of "not wanting to get banned" from the H3 subreddit.^[5] Their only other activity was a bizarre post on /r/askgaybros in which they claimed they had hooked up with AB, an employee of the H3 Podcast, essentially accusing him of being secretly gay and of cheating on his wife.^[6]
On the same day the /r/H3Snark post was made, the H3 Podcast went live with Ethan wishing a happy Ramadan to those who celebrate it and discussing it with his Muslim employees.^[7]
2 days after the post, Ethan explained that it was fake and that there was no record of it ever existing in the moderator logs.^[8]
In February 2025, Ethan revealed that he has an informant inside the H3Snark moderator team who revealed to him that the person who faked the Ramadan post was an H3Snark moderator,^[9] a month later Ethan would name the moderator as reddit user /u/im_a_sturgeon.^[10]
